Keep your hands free on the trails and let your dog help pack it out. Designed to discreetly carrybagged dog waste until you reach a bin. Made from up-cycled Gore-Tex. Machine washable. Minimalist lightweight design with velcro tabs and clips so it can be easily secured to collar or harness.
Humans leave millions of plastic bags of dog waste in the forest every year because they don’t like carrying it. Luckily, dogs don't mind carrying the bags of poo at all, and they can help us solve this major environmental problem. Dogs don’t have an aversion to dog faeces like people do. In contrast, dogs are actually interested in the smell of dog faeces, and many dogs actually eat poop- yuck!
The Dog Pocket ™ It is a game changer for people who love to hike and mountain bike. The pockets also strap onto backpacks, leashes and belts of course.
*Roll of plastic bags not included- please choose compostable bags*
FAQ:
Q: Dog's have such a strong sense of smell...is it mean to make them carry their own poo bag?
A: It really depends on the dog, but the great thing is that most dogs don't mind or even notice the dog pocket at all. We have to remember that dogs are different from people (even though we like to think of our dogs as our kids) - most dogs like to sniff other dog’s feces and they are curious and interested in the smell. It is one of the ways that dogs identify each other. One of our designers also works in a Vet ER where dogs are often brought in because they have ingested gross things like feces, garbage, and worse, and so it is pretty obvious that most dogs really are not disgusted by those things like we humans are. It helps us protect other pets and wildlife from the dangers of these bags being left in the environment.
That said, you know your dog best, so any time your dog doesn't like something be sensitive to that. I know what my dog dislikes- car rides, taking baths, strangers, going to the vet... but she could care less about packing out her own waste. She is just happy to be on the trail, and she knows that when the dog pocket is on it means adventure time! Thanks for your question, and we totally see why that would be a natural first thought:)
Q: Can I attach the pocket to my backpack or to a harness instead of the collar?
A: Yes! The pocket also attaches to other places like a backpack, the owner’s belt loop, and harnesses. It was designed to be versatile to accommodate a vast array of needs.
Q: What if my dog is one of the dogs that doesn't like it?
A: We recommend that you use your own judgement when it comes to your dog. If your dog is one of the few that really minds (we all know when our dog doesn’t like something), then obviously you would not want to attach it to the collar.
If you’re hiking with a group then just find the few dogs in the group that literally don’t mind and they can help carry everybody’s out. You would be surprised- a lot of dogs are really happy to help out with the problem:)Thanks for your question!
