HAPPY HIPS! SURGERY FOR HIP DYSPLASIA

Hello friends, new and old!
We live in an amazing place filled with hard working and dedicated individuals, furry and otherwise! Sled dogs are among these individuals, and I was almost one of them! Unfortunately I had a pretty severe case of hip problems. I was born with a condition called Hip Dysplasia, it was passed down from my parents and grandparents.

These are healthy hips, where the ball and socket fit together nicely. Lucky!

Hip Dysplasia is a common disorder in working dogs and it means that my hip joints did not form properly. Bunny-hopping, pain and exaggerated swaying of the hips are common signs of hip dysplasia. Until I could get surgery, I was on pain medication everyday. Without it I could not get out of bed because my hips were actually dislocated!

Once I was big enough for surgery the amazing team at Canada West Veterinary Specialists took care of me, and now I do not need any medication at all!

Me after surgery. At first I needed a little help getting around, but I recovered like a champ!

I get to live everyday pain free and I am able to run, jump, and play as much as I want!
