In this video we discuss the prevalence of motor vehicle trauma in pets and what pet owners can do to prevent their pet from getting hit by a car and to be prepared for a major emergency. We discuss the most common reasons that dogs and cats get hit by cars. Pet owners can strengthen their skill set and preparedness by taking a basic pet first aid course. Pet owners' ability to afford medical care in an emergency is a major factor deciding outcome. I recommend that all pets have good medical insurance, so that they can receive the best possible treatment if the worst case scenario strikes out of the blue. Stay safe out there everyone!
