Happiness is contagious so by bringing bliss to others you brighten the world around you.

“Since you get more joy out of giving joy to others, you should put a good deal of thought into the happiness that you are able to give.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

It is so easy to become overwhelmed with the everyday routine. Consequently, when you see a friend or a coworker feeling down or burned out, you want to boost their mood. While grand gestures and luxurious gifts can bring a big smile to someone’s face, it doesn’t have to be this fancy. Sometimes the best way to brighten up someone’s day is by doing those little things that are simple yet meaningful:

  1. Tell a cheesy joke to a friend and laugh your butts off
  2. Smile at a stranger
  3. Leave a cute note in your partner’s car
  4. Bring a coffee to a coworker
  5. Call a friend to simply say hi
  6. Give a genuine compliment to someone
  7. Make silly faces
  8. Surprise someone with fresh flowers
  9. Pick a wildflower and leave it on someone’s windshield
  10. Let someone know that they inspire you
  11. Give a hug
  12. Call your folks and tell them you love them
  13. Prank someone you know, painlessly and harmlessly (my favourite)
  14. Say I love you
  15. Share produce from your garden with a friend
  16. Start a silly dance at a random place
  17. Laugh at yourself
  18. Offer to pay a stranger’s order at the drive-through or the coffee shop
  19. Cook a meal for a friend
  20. Send funny videos to someone who’s having a rough day
  21. Encourage someone to do the things they love
  22. Prepare a coffee, tea or smoothie for your partner or a friend in the morning
  23. Bake extra cookies and bring them to work
  24. Listen to your friends stories, even if it’s for the millionth time
  25. Be happy yourself

We have been designed to live for something greater than ourselves. Therefore, contributing to the happiness of others is probably one of the best ways to live a happier, healthier and more meaningful life. Moreover, putting a smile on someone’s face tends to put one on ours too.
